This is where the entire idea of themed sketchbooks in a series got started. Field Notes is a local Chicago company, specializing in small designer-y sketchbooks. Four times a year, they release a seasonal limited release edition.
They're not paying me to say anything, but when they released their Workshop Companion series, I knew they were right up my alley. Infrastructure? Gizmos? So I bought a set, and gave myself the task of completing all six books in half a year, each with its own particular theme and set of rules. Since then, I've continued to subscribe to their editions series. Sometimes, the covers will become little homework assignments for the next set of images, and sometimes, they'll act as little places to fill with my warmup doodles that I will quickly fill up before move on to the next. All in all, they're handy little books that happen to work pretty well for what I want them to do. Thanks, Field Notes! |
